In May 2023, B. Varillas began monitoring a herd of European bison in a location in La Mancha, and a herd of wild horses in Extremadura, in central Spain. Increasing the number of these herds of large wild herbivores, which recover key species for ecosystems and to prevent fires, is the objective of this BV work.
